The Daikin Ururu Sarara is the one wall-mounted unit in Daikin’s UK range that can humidify, dehumidify and bring in fresh air, alongside heating and cooling. It is also the most expensive, so the question is whether those extra features justify the cost for your home.
We reviewed Daikin UK’s technical data, manufacturer brochures, installation instructions and UK retailer prices as of 20 October 2026.
This is a research-based review rather than a hands-on test. Where technical figures are available only from Daikin’s international publications, we identify them separately.
Quick answer: The Daikin Ururu Sarara heats, cools, humidifies, dehumidifies and introduces fresh air. At 3.5 kW, it has a SEER of 9.00 and SCOP of 5.73. Equipment costs £2,466.43 including VAT, with fitted installations starting around £3,000. It makes most sense for households that specifically want humidity control, rather than those looking solely to reduce energy bills.

What is the Daikin Ururu Sarara?
The Daikin Ururu Sarara is a single-room air-to-air heat pump.
It uses an FTXZ-N indoor unit paired with an RXZ-N outdoor unit and provides five functions:
- Heating and cooling
- Air purification
- Fresh-air ventilation
- Humidification
- Dehumidification
The range comes in nominal cooling capacities of 2.5, 3.5 and 5.0 kW.
Heating output reaches 6.3 kW nominally on the largest model.
Unlike a standard air conditioning unit, the Ururu Sarara is designed to manage the room’s humidity as well as its temperature.
It also includes a motion sensor and a self-cleaning air filter. The filter brushes itself automatically, collecting dust in a compartment that needs emptying periodically.
Daikin Austria’s technical datasheet claims the self-cleaning filter can reduce energy consumption by 25%. This is a manufacturer claim rather than an independently verified saving.
How do the Ururu and Sarara functions work?
The names refer to two different humidity-control functions.
Ururu: humidification without a water tank
Ururu is Daikin’s humidification technology.
A humidifying element in the outdoor unit extracts moisture from outdoor air and transfers it indoors through a dedicated hose.
According to Daikin UK’s product information, this means there is no water tank to refill and no separate water connection.
That is one of the system’s main advantages over a standalone humidifier.
The amount of moisture available will depend on outdoor conditions and the system’s operating mode.
Sarara: dehumidification without overcooling
Sarara is the dehumidification function.
Conventional air conditioners remove moisture as part of cooling, which can lower the room temperature.
Daikin describes Sarara as reducing humidity without cooling the room below its set temperature.
It achieves this by combining cooled, dried air with warmer air.
This may be particularly useful in rooms where humidity is uncomfortable but additional cooling is not required.
However, humidity control should not be considered a solution to structural damp, water ingress or inadequate ventilation.
How much moisture can the Ururu Sarara add?
Daikin’s French technical brochure provides the following humidification capacities:
| Model | Manufacturer-stated humidification capacity |
|---|---|
| 2.5 kW | 425 ml/hour |
| 3.5 kW | 500 ml/hour |
| 5.0 kW | 600 ml/hour |
These figures come from Daikin’s French-language brochure, which contains technical data dated 15 April 2018.
Daikin UK’s current product pages, specifications and manuals do not publish corresponding humidification figures.
We would therefore treat these values as indicative manufacturer claims and ask the installer to confirm the performance of the exact model being quoted.
Does it bring in fresh air?
Yes.
The Ururu Sarara has a fresh-air supply function.
Daikin Europe’s Ururu Sarara catalogue gives a fresh-air supply figure of 30 m³ per hour.
At that rate, the system could theoretically introduce a volume of air equivalent to a room of more than 26 m² in under two hours, depending on ceiling height.
However, this does not establish how effectively the air mixes throughout the room or whether the system meets the property’s ventilation requirements.
The figure is also from an older manufacturer catalogue rather than Daikin UK’s current specifications.
Daikin Ururu Sarara specifications
The Ururu Sarara is available in three sizes.
| Specification | 2.5 kW (25N) | 3.5 kW (35N) | 5.0 kW (50N) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nominal cooling capacity | 2.5 kW | 3.5 kW | 5.0 kW |
| Nominal heating capacity | 3.6 kW | 5.0 kW | 6.3 kW |
| Maximum heating capacity | 7.5 kW | 9.0 kW | 9.4 kW |
| SEER | 9.54 | 9.00 | 8.60 |
| SCOP | 5.90 | 5.73 | 5.50 |
| Annual label electricity use, cooling | 92 kWh | 136 kWh | 203 kWh |
| Annual label electricity use, heating | 831 kWh | 1,100 kWh | 1,427 kWh |

| Outdoor noise, heating | 46 dB(A) | 48 dB(A) | 50 dB(A) |
Sources: Daikin UK’s technical specifications and Daikin Austria’s July 2025 datasheet.
All three models use R-32 refrigerant.
The indoor unit measures 295 × 798 × 372 mm, while the outdoor unit measures 693 × 873 × 334 mm.
The indoor unit’s depth is particularly important when comparing it with other Daikin systems.
At 372 mm, it projects almost twice as far from the wall as the 189 mm-deep Daikin Stylish.
How noisy is the Daikin Ururu Sarara?
Daikin quotes indoor sound pressure levels starting at 19 dB(A) in silent mode for the 2.5 and 3.5 kW versions.
The larger 5.0 kW model starts at 23 dB(A).
At higher fan speeds, the indoor noise increases to:
- 38 dB(A) for the 2.5 kW model
- 42 dB(A) for the 3.5 kW model
- 47 dB(A) for the 5.0 kW model
For comparison, Daikin’s Stylish produces 40, 41 and 46 dB(A) respectively at the highest indoor fan speed on equivalent capacities.
The Ururu Sarara is therefore very quiet at its lowest settings but not necessarily quieter than the Stylish during higher-output operation.
How noisy is the outdoor unit?
Daikin quotes outdoor cooling sound pressure levels of 46–49 dB(A), depending on capacity.
During heating, the largest model reaches 50 dB(A).
The Ururu Sarara installation manual advises selecting a suitable outdoor location and avoiding positions where noise could disturb bedrooms.
The final noise impact depends on the installation location, distance from neighbouring windows and surrounding surfaces.
Our guide to how noisy an air source heat pump is explains these measurements in more detail.
How much does the Daikin Ururu Sarara cost?
The Ururu Sarara is the most expensive of Daikin’s six main domestic wall-mounted ranges in our October 2026 comparison.
Equipment-only prices from Buy Air Conditioning are:
| Model | Kit only, ex VAT | Kit only, inc VAT | Premium over white Stylish kit, ex VAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2.5 kW | £1,767.36 | £2,120.83 | £623.04 |
| 3.5 kW | £2,055.36 | £2,466.43 | £743.04 |
| 5.0 kW | £2,304.96 | £2,765.95 | £552.00 |
Source: Buy Air Conditioning’s Daikin listings, checked on 20 October 2026. We added standard 20% VAT to the equipment-only prices.
AirConAdviser’s July 2026 guide gives a lower equipment range of £1,580–£2,060 excluding VAT across the three sizes.
That variation makes it worth comparing suppliers.
How much does installation cost?
AirConAdviser suggests budgeting from approximately £3,000 supplied and fitted.
However, the Ururu Sarara has additional installation requirements compared with a standard split air conditioner.
A surveyed quotation is therefore particularly important.
The total price will depend on the distance between indoor and outdoor units, the humidifying hose route, electrical work and access requirements.
Is the Ururu Sarara worth the extra money over a Stylish?
At 3.5 kW, the Ururu Sarara kit costs £743.04 more excluding VAT than a white Stylish.
That is a premium of approximately 56.6%.
The Ururu Sarara is more efficient in heating mode, but the financial benefit is relatively small.
At Ofgem’s current average electricity unit rate of 26.32p per kWh:
- Ururu Sarara, SCOP 5.73: approximately 4.59p per kWh of heat
- Stylish, SCOP 5.15: approximately 5.11p per kWh of heat
The difference is approximately 0.52p per kWh of heat.
For a room requiring 3,500 kWh of useful heat annually, the Ururu Sarara saves approximately £18.10 per year.
On that basis, it would take approximately 41 years to recover the £743.04 equipment premium through heating efficiency alone.
That is a simplified calculation, excluding financing, maintenance, installation differences and changes in electricity prices.
It demonstrates why the Ururu Sarara is best purchased for its additional humidity and ventilation features, rather than the expectation of substantially lower bills.

What does installing a Daikin Ururu Sarara involve?
The Ururu Sarara requires more installation work than a conventional wall-mounted split system.
Daikin’s installation manual identifies several important considerations.
A dedicated humidifying hose
The system uses a hose to transfer moisture from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit.
An 8-metre hose is supplied.
A 10-metre replacement hose and 2-metre extension are available as options.
The hose must be cut to the appropriate length, and the length must be configured using the remote control.
Daikin’s instructions specify no more than one elbow in the humidifying hose.
This can limit the possible installation routes.
Existing pipe routes may not be reusable
The humidifying hose cannot be installed through existing embedded piping.
If you are replacing another air conditioner, additional work may therefore be needed to accommodate the hose.
The installer should inspect the route before providing a final price.
A deeper indoor unit
The indoor unit measures 372 mm deep.
That is considerably deeper than the Daikin Stylish, which measures 189 mm.
It is worth checking how far the unit will project into the room, particularly where it will be installed above furniture or in a narrow space.
Single-split installation only
Daikin UK lists the Ururu Sarara as a system with one indoor unit connected to one outdoor unit.
It is not included among the manufacturer’s standard multi-split indoor unit combinations.
Some retailers describe multi-split compatibility, so if an installer proposes that arrangement, ask for the relevant Daikin combination table in writing.
For multi-room installations, Daikin’s Emura, Stylish, Perfera and Comfora ranges offer more conventional multi-split options.
Our split vs multi-split air conditioning guide explains the alternatives.
VAT and warranty
Qualifying supply-and-install packages for fixed air-to-air heat pumps are currently zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027.
Under HMRC’s VAT Notice 708/6, the reduced 5% rate is scheduled to apply from 1 April 2027.
Equipment purchased separately without qualifying installation is generally subject to standard 20% VAT.
Daikin UK’s warranty guidance indicates that standard warranty periods are typically one or three years, depending on the product.
Ask the installer to confirm the warranty term and servicing requirements in writing.
Our air conditioning installation cost guide covers the factors that can affect your quotation.
How much does the Daikin Ururu Sarara cost to run?
The Ururu Sarara has excellent seasonal efficiency ratings.
At 3.5 kW, its SEER of 9.00 and SCOP of 5.73 mean it can deliver substantial heating and cooling output relative to electricity consumed under standardised test conditions.
Using Ofgem’s October to December 2026 average electricity rate of 26.32p per kWh:
- One kWh of heat costs approximately 4.59p.
- One kWh of cooling costs approximately 2.92p.
Annual running costs by model
Daikin publishes annual electricity consumption figures on its energy labels.
| Model | Cooling electricity | Annual cooling cost | Heating electricity | Annual heating cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2.5 kW | 92 kWh | £24.21 | 831 kWh | £218.72 |
| 3.5 kW | 136 kWh | £35.80 | 1,100 kWh | £289.52 |
| 5.0 kW | 203 kWh | £53.43 | 1,427 kWh | £375.59 |
These are illustrative costs using Daikin’s standardised energy label consumption and the current average electricity unit rate.
They are not predictions of what every household will pay.
The Ururu Sarara’s energy label uses different design heating loads from some other Daikin models.
For a fair efficiency comparison, it is better to compare the cost per kWh of heat delivered rather than the total energy label consumption.
Does humidification increase electricity consumption?
Yes, the additional humidity and fresh-air functions can consume electricity when operating.
AirConAdviser notes that the humidifier and fresh-air fan add to electricity consumption.
However, the source comparison did not identify a published UK figure for the additional consumption.
The running costs in the table should therefore not be treated as including all possible humidification and ventilation usage.

FAQs
Is the Daikin Ururu Sarara worth it?
The Ururu Sarara is worth considering if you specifically want humidity control and fresh-air supply alongside heating and cooling.
At 3.5 kW, its equipment costs £743.04 more excluding VAT than a Stylish, while the heating efficiency improvement saves approximately £18.10 annually in our example.
It is therefore difficult to justify the premium through electricity savings alone.
If you mainly need heating and cooling, the Perfera or Stylish may offer better value.
Does the Daikin Ururu Sarara need a water tank or plumbing?
No.
The Ururu humidification function extracts moisture from outdoor air and transfers it indoors through a dedicated hose.
There is no water tank to refill and no separate water supply connection.
However, the hose must be installed between the indoor and outdoor units, and it cannot reuse existing embedded piping.
How much does a Daikin Ururu Sarara cost to install?
Equipment-only prices range from £2,120.83 including VAT for the 2.5 kW model to £2,765.95 for the 5.0 kW version.
AirConAdviser suggests supplied-and-fitted installations from approximately £3,000.
The humidifying hose and additional installation requirements can increase costs, so obtain a surveyed quotation.
How noisy is the Daikin Ururu Sarara?
Daikin quotes indoor noise levels starting at 19 dB(A) in silent mode on the 2.5 and 3.5 kW models.
At the highest fan speeds, indoor noise reaches 38–47 dB(A), depending on capacity.
The outdoor unit produces 46–49 dB(A) in cooling mode and up to 50 dB(A) in heating mode.
Daikin advises positioning the outdoor unit away from bedrooms where possible.
Can the Daikin Ururu Sarara connect to a multi-split system?
Daikin UK’s published information identifies the Ururu Sarara as a single-split system, with one indoor unit per outdoor unit.
Some retailers describe multi-split use, but this is not confirmed in the manufacturer’s standard UK combination information.
Ask your installer to provide written Daikin compatibility documentation before relying on a multi-split arrangement.
Our Verdict
The Daikin Ururu Sarara is best suited to homeowners who genuinely need its humidity-control features.
It offers excellent heating efficiency, with a SCOP of 5.73 at 3.5 kW, and combines heating, cooling, air purification, fresh-air supply, humidification and dehumidification in one system.
However, its additional efficiency provides only a small annual saving compared with the Stylish.
The larger indoor unit and dedicated humidifying hose also make installation more complicated.
For homeowners who simply want efficient heating and cooling, a Daikin Perfera or Stylish is likely to be the more economical option.
If humidity control is a priority, obtain two or three surveyed quotations that identify the exact model codes, humidifying hose route, installation requirements and warranty.
Remember that humidity management is a comfort feature, not a solution to structural damp.
