Daikin Emura vs Stylish is the choice many buyers face when comparing premium Daikin wall-mounted air conditioning units. Both offer efficient heating and cooling, quiet operation and designer finishes, so the decision comes down largely to size, appearance and price rather than performance.

We compared Daikin UK’s Emura and Stylish brochures with UK retailer prices checked on 20 October 2026, including the cost differences across different capacities.

Quick answer: The Daikin Emura and Stylish have identical published efficiency figures at 3.5 kW, with a SEER of 8.73 and a SCOP of 5.15. Both start at 19 dB(A) indoors. The Stylish is slimmer and costs £100 less fitted at Costco (£2,599.99 compared with £2,699.99), while the Emura offers a distinctive curved design.

Key takeaways

  • Performance: Both have a SEER of 8.73, SCOP of 5.15 and minimum indoor noise of 19 dB(A) at 3.5 kW.
  • Dimensions: The Stylish is 102 mm narrower and 23 mm shallower than the Emura.
  • Fitted prices: The Stylish costs £100 less at 2.5 and 3.5 kW, but the Emura is £50 cheaper at 5.0 kW.
  • Appearance: The Stylish offers eight designs, compared with three finishes for the Emura.
  • Best value: Choose the Stylish for compact dimensions and flexibility, or the Emura if you prefer its curved appearance.

The Emura and Stylish use outdoor units of almost identical dimensions, so outdoor placement requirements are broadly similar.

However, their published operating temperature ranges use different measurement bases and should not be interpreted as a direct performance comparison.

Our air conditioning planning permission guide explains the rules for installing outdoor units.

Is the Daikin Emura or Stylish more efficient?

Neither has a clear efficiency advantage.

Daikin publishes identical SEER and SCOP ratings for the Emura and Stylish at every comparable capacity.

SEER measures seasonal cooling efficiency, while SCOP measures seasonal heating efficiency. Higher numbers indicate greater efficiency.

At 3.5 kW, both systems have:

  • SEER: 8.73
  • SCOP: 5.15

This means that under standardised seasonal test conditions, both units deliver approximately 5.15 kWh of heat for every kWh of electricity consumed.

Efficiency and running costs by size

The table below uses Daikin’s published energy label consumption and Ofgem’s October to December 2026 electricity rate of 26.32p per kWh.

Model sizeSEERSCOPAnnual label electricity consumptionIllustrative annual cost
2.0 kW8.755.1580 kWh cooling + 652 kWh heating£193
2.5 kW8.745.15100 kWh cooling + 666 kWh heating£202
3.5 kW8.735.15136 kWh cooling + 680 kWh heating£215
4.2 kW7.504.60196 kWh cooling + 1,156 kWh heating£356
5.0 kW7.334.60239 kWh cooling + 1,218 kWh heating£383

These figures apply equally to the Emura and Stylish.

They reflect standardised energy label conditions rather than your household’s actual usage.

The smaller models achieve A+++ efficiency ratings, while the larger 4.2 and 5.0 kW models have lower efficiency figures.

Will the Emura cost more to run?

Not if you compare equivalent capacities under the same operating conditions.

Both systems use the same published seasonal efficiency figures, so their estimated electricity consumption is also the same.

At 3.5 kW, the combined annual energy label consumption of 816 kWh would cost approximately £215 at the current electricity unit rate.

Actual costs depend on room size, insulation, operating hours and temperature settings.

Which is quieter, the Daikin Emura or Stylish?

Daikin’s published noise measurements are identical for the two ranges.

Both start at 19 dB(A) in silent mode on the 2.0, 2.5 and 3.5 kW models.

CapacityIndoor noise, silent modeIndoor noise, high speedOutdoor noise, cooling
2.0 kW19 dB(A)39 dB(A)46 dB(A)
2.5 kW19 dB(A)40 dB(A)46 dB(A)
3.5 kW19 dB(A)41 dB(A)49 dB(A)
4.2 kW21 dB(A)45 dB(A)48 dB(A)
5.0 kW24 dB(A)46 dB(A)48 dB(A)

These figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of the two systems installed side by side.

Does either model have independent noise certification?

The Stylish has an additional distinction.

According to Cooling Post’s April 2026 report, the Stylish was included among Daikin’s Quiet Mark certified products.

The report does not name the Emura.

That does not necessarily mean the Emura is noisier. Daikin’s published noise ratings remain identical.

For a bedroom installation, the indoor unit’s placement and operating mode may matter more than the difference between these models.

Daikin Emura vs Stylish prices in the UK

The Stylish is generally the cheaper option, although the difference varies by capacity.

The following prices were checked on 20 October 2026.

Equipment prices come from Buy Air Conditioning and exclude VAT. The kit premium includes 20% VAT.

Fitted prices come from Costco’s installed packages, which qualify for 0% VAT.

At 3.5 kW, the Emura costs £100 more fitted, equivalent to approximately 3.8% of the Stylish’s fitted price.

Interestingly, at 5.0 kW, the Emura is £50 cheaper than the Stylish in Costco’s listings.

Why are fitted prices different from kit prices?

The equipment price is only one part of the installation.

Costco’s fitted packages include up to 10 metres of pipework and cable, along with installation by an F-Gas engineer.

They exclude the electrician’s supply to the outdoor unit.

Installation costs can also change depending on the pipework route, outdoor unit location and access requirements.

For broader comparisons, see our Daikin air conditioning prices UK guide and air conditioning installation cost guide.

Do different colours cost more?

Yes, in some cases.

Costco charges approximately £100 more for the silver Emura than the white version at 2.5 and 3.5 kW, and £200 more at 5.0 kW.

The silver Stylish also starts approximately £100 above the white model.

Prices for the Stylish’s five newer decorative designs were not established in the source comparison.

Is there VAT on Daikin Emura and Stylish installation?

Qualifying installations of fixed air-to-air heat pumps are zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027 under HMRC’s published guidance.

The published rules provide for a reduced rate of 5% from 1 April 2027.

Equipment purchased separately without qualifying installation is generally subject to standard VAT.

Design and dimensions: the biggest difference

The most noticeable difference between the Daikin Emura and Stylish is their appearance.

The Emura has a wider, curved casing designed to stand out as a feature of the room.

The Stylish is narrower, flatter and designed to blend more discreetly into its surroundings.

Stylish: slimmer, flatter profile

Daikin Emura design

The Emura measures 305 mm high, 900 mm wide and 212 mm deep.

Its curved front panel moves forward at an angle while the system operates.

Daikin offers three finishes:

  • Matt white
  • Silver
  • Matt black

Each version comes with a matching remote control.

The third-generation Emura received the Red Dot and iF design awards in 2022, according to Daikin UK’s announcement.

It may appeal particularly to homeowners who want the air conditioning unit to form part of the room’s design.

Daikin Stylish design

The Stylish measures 295 mm high, 798 mm wide and 189 mm deep.

Compared with the Emura, it is:

  • 10 mm shorter
  • 102 mm narrower
  • 23 mm shallower

That difference can be important where wall space is limited, such as above a doorway or on a narrow wall.

The Stylish originally came in white, silver and black.

In March 2026, Daikin announced five additional decorative designs:

  • Light wood on white
  • Oak wood on black
  • Grey fabric on black
  • Colourful fabric on white
  • Dark brown leather on black

The decorative panels imitate the appearance of these materials rather than being made from genuine wood, fabric or leather.

They are fixed panels and cannot be detached.

Our Daikin Stylish review explores these finishes in more detail.

Air filtration

Both systems include Daikin’s Flash Streamer technology, a titanium apatite deodorising filter and a silver allergen filter.

The Stylish additionally lists a static filter treated to help capture bacteria and viruses.

These features are intended to improve indoor air quality, but they do not replace the need for suitable ventilation.

Smart controls

Both models support Daikin’s Onecta app.

The app allows users to adjust temperatures, change operating modes and manage schedules remotely.

Amazon Alexa and Google Home voice control are also supported.

Can you mix Emura and Stylish units in a multi-split system?

Potentially, yes.

Daikin UK’s multi-split guidance explains that different compatible indoor unit types and colours can be combined on one outdoor unit.

Both Emura and Stylish appear among the compatible product families.

However, your installer must check the exact indoor and outdoor model combinations against Daikin’s technical tables.

The Stylish also has a 1.5 kW indoor unit available for certain multi-split configurations, which may suit smaller rooms.

Our split vs multi-split air conditioning guide explains the advantages and limitations of each setup.

Which should you choose: Daikin Emura or Stylish?

Because the efficiency and noise specifications match, the choice is mainly about where the unit will be installed and which design you prefer.

Choose the Daikin Stylish if…

You want a slimmer unit that takes up less wall space.

Its 798 mm width and 189 mm depth make it more discreet, particularly in smaller bedrooms, narrow rooms or areas above doorways.

It is also the better choice if you want a decorative finish beyond the standard white, silver and black options.

At 2.5 and 3.5 kW, it is £100 cheaper fitted than the Emura in Costco’s October 2026 listings.

Choose the Daikin Emura if…

You prefer its curved appearance and want the indoor unit to be a deliberate design feature.

The Emura’s wider casing and moving front panel create a different visual effect from the Stylish.

It is also worth comparing at 5.0 kW, where Costco’s white Emura is £50 cheaper than the equivalent Stylish.

Consider the Daikin Perfera if…

Appearance is less important than price and efficiency.

At 3.5 kW, the Perfera costs £2,299.99 fitted at Costco, compared with £2,599.99 for the Stylish and £2,699.99 for the Emura.

It also has slightly higher efficiency ratings, with a SEER of 9.25 and a SCOP of 5.20.

Our Verdict

For most buyers comparing the Daikin Emura and Stylish, we would choose the Stylish.

It matches the Emura on published efficiency, capacity and noise levels, while offering a slimmer design, more finishes and a lower fitted price at 2.5 and 3.5 kW.

The Emura remains an excellent alternative if you prefer its curved appearance, particularly in a living room where the unit will be prominent.

It may also offer better value at 5.0 kW, based on Costco’s current pricing.

Neither model provides a meaningful performance advantage over the other.

Before making a decision, compare two or three fitted quotations that specify the exact indoor and outdoor model codes, electrical work, warranty and installation requirements.
