One footnote: Fox’s range page rounds the nine-module EQ4800 stack to 41.94 kWh; the datasheet says 41.93 kWh, the figure we use.
Those figures are nominal: the EQ range runs at 90% depth of discharge, so the usable energy is 90% of the number on the label.
The core specs are strong for the price bracket. The EQ4800 datasheet lists LFP cells, battery pack round-trip efficiency above 95%, an IP65 rating for outdoor or indoor installation, and natural convection cooling, which means no fans and no fan noise.
Charging is rated from 0°C to 55°C and discharging from -10°C to 55°C. A battery warm-up function for cold snaps is available on the EQ2900, EQ4300 and EQ5000 in master and slave setups, but not on the EQ4800.
A full nine-module EQ4800 tower weighs 356.5 kg, so bigger stacks need a solid floor rather than a wall.

1. Best for most three and four-bed homes – Fox ESS EQ4800
Two modules give 9.32 kWh nominal and three give 13.98 kWh, which is roughly 8.4 to 12.6 kWh usable at 90% depth of discharge.
Habo Energy’s sizing guide puts a typical three-bed home at 8 to 10 kWh of storage, which lands in that band, and you can add modules later if an EV or heat pump arrives.

The downsides, honestly stated
The ecosystem lock-in is the big one. The headline Fox experience assumes a Fox inverter, so you are committing to the brand for more than just the battery.
Second, the 90% depth of discharge means the number on the label is not the usable figure. Compare usable kWh when putting a Fox quote alongside batteries that advertise usable capacity directly.
Third, the EQ4800 datasheet does not publish the sort of headline cycle-life figure some rivals promote heavily, so the warranty carries much of the practical longevity promise.
