If you are shopping for home battery storage, you may have seen Hinen appear on installer quotes and wondered whether a brand this new to the UK can be trusted with a five-figure purchase. This Hinen battery review answers that question with sourced specs rather than brochure claims.

Who are Hinen?

Hinen is not a startup, but it is new to your street. The parent group was established in 2004 as a publicly listed Chinese electronics manufacturer, and the residential energy storage division, Hinen New Energy, was created in 2022.

The group runs seven production centres across China and Vietnam, employs more than 500 R&D staff, holds more than 150 patents, and builds its batteries, battery management systems and inverters in-house.

For UK buyers, the important part is the local footprint. Hinen UK Limited operates from Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, with a UK phone line and 24/7 support, and the company is an Energy Storage Association member.

The A15 formally launched in the UK in August 2026 with an installer-led sales model. That is why Hinen’s UK web store may show products as sold out: you buy through an installer rather than directly from the website.

The Hinen range reviewed

1. Best for most UK homes: Hinen A15 with B15 battery

The A15 is Hinen’s flagship residential system: an A-series hybrid inverter paired with the B15 high-voltage battery module.

Each B15 stores 14.4 kWh nominal and 13.68 kWh usable, giving a 95% depth of discharge. It uses lithium iron phosphate chemistry and is rated for more than 8,000 cycles.

Up to six modules can be combined for a maximum 86.4 kWh nominal capacity, so the same platform can cover anything from a three-bed semi to a large property with multiple EVs and substantial electricity demand.

The matching single-phase inverters range from 3.6 kW to 15 kW, with three-phase models also available. The 3.6 kW model sits within the G98 fast-track connection process, so smaller installations can avoid the longer G99 application process.

The inverter carries four independent 16A MPPTs with a low 90V startup voltage. The system is 180 mm deep, IP65 rated and includes heating that allows operation in low temperatures.

Safety and serviceability are also strong on paper. Hinen specifies five layers of battery protection, internal aerosol fire suppression, fault isolation designed to keep the system operating if one battery fails, OTA firmware updates and remote CT calibration.

2. Best for pairing with new solar: Hinen All-in-One A Series

The All-in-One range takes a different approach. Instead of the A15’s large 14.4 kWh blocks, it stacks 8.9 kWh high-voltage battery modules beneath an integrated hybrid inverter.

That lets you start smaller and expand in more manageable increments.

The H6S covers 3.6 kW to 6 kW single-phase systems with 8.9 to 17.8 kWh of storage and two MPPTs. That makes it a good fit for a new solar-and-battery installation on a typical three-bed home.

The H15S steps up to 8 kW to 15 kW single-phase inverters with four MPPTs, up to 200% PV oversizing, and battery capacity from 8.9 kWh to 106 kWh across six clusters.

A three-phase H25T covers larger properties at 10 kW to 25 kW.

Backup performance is also competitive on paper, with a quoted transfer time of 10 ms or less and 200% EPS overload capacity for surge loads.

On paper, Hinen’s module size and cycle rating are strong, while its 12-year stated B15 warranty matches the headline term offered on the Fox ESS EQ range.

The Sunsynk G5.3’s IP20 rating restricts where it can be installed compared with IP65-rated Hinen and Fox hardware.

Where Hinen loses is transparency. Fox ESS and Sunsynk pricing is much easier to find, while Hinen remains quote-only.

That makes like-for-like installer quotes particularly important. Compare the total installed price against usable battery capacity, not just the headline storage figure.

Warranty and UK support: the reality for a newer entrant

The A15’s B15 battery carries a 12-year warranty according to Hinen’s UK launch materials.

However, Hinen’s published European service commitment from 2024 covers the wider product range and lists 10 years for batteries and five years for hybrid inverters, with the inverter term upgraded to 10 years when connected to Hinen’s cloud monitoring.

Because those documents differ, ask your installer to confirm in writing which warranty applies to the exact battery and inverter models on your quote.

The conditions matter too. Cloud registration is a stated prerequisite within the European after-sales commitment, warranty cover applies in the country of original sale, and products bought through unauthorised dealers are excluded.

That makes buying through an accredited installer much safer than sourcing a grey-market unit because it is cheaper.

On the positive side, Hinen’s European service commitment says logistics costs are covered on qualifying claims and promises a two-hour response to technical calls. Having a Birmingham operation also gives UK customers a domestic point of contact.

The bigger issue is counterparty risk.

The honest cons

No independent UK track record

The A15 only launched in the UK in August 2026. There simply isn’t a long-term British owner base yet, so claims about reliability and after-sales service remain largely untested here.

Opaque pricing

Quote-only pricing makes it harder to spot an excessive installer markup. Compare at least two quotations and calculate the installed cost per usable kWh.

Warranty documents need reconciling

The 12-year B15 claim in UK launch materials does not neatly match the older European service document. Get the warranty applying to your exact hardware confirmed before paying a deposit.

The A15 starts big

A household using 8 to 10 kWh of electricity a day may not need 13.68 kWh of usable storage. The All-in-One range’s smaller 8.9 kWh steps may be a better fit.

The installer network is still growing

Installer choice is likely to be narrower than with mature UK battery brands while Hinen builds its presence.

How does Hinen compare with other newer premium systems?

Hinen’s value proposition becomes clearer when you compare it with Sigenergy.

Both are newer names in the UK market and both are trying to win customers with modern hardware rather than relying on a long-established domestic brand.

Is Hinen a Chinese company?

Yes. Its parent group is a Chinese-listed electronics manufacturer founded in 2004, with production facilities in China and Vietnam. Its UK operation is based in Birmingham.

Chinese manufacturing is not unusual in this market. Fox ESS and Sunsynk hardware is also manufactured in China.

How long will a Hinen battery last?

The B15 module is rated for more than 8,000 cycles. At one complete cycle per day, 8,000 cycles would theoretically represent roughly 22 years.

That should not be treated as a guaranteed 22-year lifespan. Real degradation depends on temperature, depth of discharge, charge rates and usage, and the warranty period is shorter than the engineering cycle figure suggests.

Does a Hinen battery work in a power cut?

The All-in-One range quotes backup transfer in 10 ms or less. Backup still needs to be included and correctly wired as part of the installation.

Our Verdict

Hinen is a credible new option in the UK mid-market rather than an unknown battery brand appearing from nowhere.

The specifications are genuinely competitive. The A15 offers 13.68 kWh usable per module, LFP cells rated beyond 8,000 cycles, an IP65 enclosure, low-temperature operation and a stated 12-year B15 battery warranty. The Birmingham operation and established parent group are also positive signals.

What Hinen cannot offer yet is proof. There is no long-term UK owner base, pricing is not transparent, and the differing warranty documents need clarifying before purchase.

Our recommendation is therefore conditional. Shortlist Hinen if an installer quotes it at a competitive cost per usable kWh against established alternatives such as Fox ESS. Get the warranty covering the exact models in writing and make sure any required cloud registration is completed during commissioning.
